a number that is both ODD and EVEN..? 🤔

 okay I'll admit it. I only had this thought from watching one paticular episode of Victorious (Brain Squeezers, s4 e10)        

 

anyway,  back to the point of THIS blog. my guess for the number that is BOTH Odd & Even, and I'll explain afterwards are:  -2, -1, 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 7 and √2

I picked -1 and -2 for similar reasons as 1 and 2,  because this whole number game seems like the positive and negative numbers parallel with 0

0 is also a weird number to me, and "ODD" can mean "odd numbers" or it could mean, "different to what is usual or expected; strange."

I picked  half because it can be written as decimal (0.5),  fraction (1/2), percentage (50%) etc...
and since 0.5 and 1/2 both mean the same thing AND they both end with an odd/even number, it sticks out to me. (I guess so will -0.5, but whatever.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2,3,5&7 are the first 4 primes. and of them 2 and 7 stick out as 2 is apparently the only even prime (0 is not prime) ☹️
and 7 or SEVEN, if you rearrange the letters in its name, you get EVENS
which YES is a bad joke, but so is the titular question, right?
it must be a bad joke, right? if not a bad joke, then a lateral 

my last number is √2. idk much about the number. all I know is that Pythogoras went BALLISTIC over it and killed his student after bringing it up.

Pythagoras dismisses his class and waves them off to enjoy the rest of the day. all students leaves except for one: Hipposus. 

Hipposus: teacher, teacher that was a great lecture you gave us on tri-go-no-metry?

Phythagoras: that's correct

Hipposus: that was a great lecture you gave today. also I did some light reading the other day on the caravan ride over to school. 
(Hipposus is not a local student, he normally reads Pythagorus' parchments, but he saved up enough money to come see one of his lectures. -it'll wash him away...)

I was doing some calculations on the caravan over here, when I stumbled across a funny number... √2? can you go over my work please? -I'm not shore if I went wrong somewhere?

 

(But the calculations weren't wrong.  and as Pythograsus' eyes scanned across the parchment at the young man's immaculate calculations. an ugly thought of worry a-piered in his head... a worry that grew into envy.

Eventually, Pythagoras handed back the parchment to Hipposus.)

Pythagorus: (smiling with eyes closed) everything looks good.

you're a fin-tastic student, with a promising future ahead of you. take the rest of the day off and seas the day! you need to really shell-ibrate your youth, you know? 😜

(and so Pythagorus waved his student off. his face growing stern when Hipposus was no longer in sight... later in the evening Pythagorus kidnapped Hipposus with a sack over his head and drowned him at sea.
his reason?  ♪√2 is a bad number, and the lord posidon warned him to act upon it..♪

so this kind of a part 2 of a blog. the first part can be found here and that's just me wondering if milk and water are technicaly the same colour? 

I asked around on a bunch of questions websites for professional nerds to read and attempt to answer; as well as some nerdy friends of mine. :) 

and here's where I am now: 

Reflection: When a wave meets a boundary, it can be reflected or transmitted. Reflection can be partial or complete. Reflection can also involve a phase flip (change of phase of 180 degrees.) 

Refraction: Occurs when a wave crosses a boundary from one medium to another. A wave entering a medium at an angle will change direction. 

Diffraction: Refers to the "bending of waves around an edge" of an object. Diffraction depends on the size of the object relative to the wavelength of the wave.

which brings me to my question: are water and milk technicaly the same colour? 

in short no. sad right? let me explain like in BBC Bitesize amounts. 

Water is technicaly colourless because it has total reflection going on compared to milk. partly because water and milk have different densities.
(for a few reasons including how milk is made) but mainly because when light hits water, most is REFRACTED and DIFFRACTED and some is REFLECTED. 

with milk, less light is diffracted and more light gets absorbed.
so in conclusion, translucent objects are different coloured to opaque objects.

Milk v Water

there are 3 types if people when it comes to the "coffee v tea" argument

1. those who like coffee

2. thise who like tea

3. joksters who like to bring up a third drink option they like or saying they like both drinks equally.

not that one option is better than the other, these questions are normally used to break the ice when meeting new people.

icebreakers are cool, but asking for favourites can get boring if you don't follow up. i mean you're already in a conversation, so why are you afraid of conversing with the other person/people?

anyhoo, usually the 3rd option for coffee or tea involves someone saying milk, water or hot coco.

and i've a thought that been bugging me for a while now which is

if white is the colour that reflects all colours, then are milk and water technically the same colour?

i posted the quested on Quora and i got some responses that i don't fully understand, but what i can take away is

1. milk is opaque while water is transparent

2. milk and water both aren't pure, they both have lots of  other chemicals mixed into them

3. (linking on from point 1) 

water, milk and air have different densities

and light diffracts, reflects and refracts at different angles. SO they appear differently

then there are the more technical answers which are confusing to grasp without visual explanations/someone to converse to

so that's why i wrote this blog, so i can share with people with better understanding and get a satisfying answer (because i feel like my head is going to explode)

Lysa's Guide To The Gregorian Calander

DISCLOSURE: for the record, i Lysa Shah Ali don't who Julian or Gregory were or when they were born. what i do know is that Gregory's calander has 3 less days and takes in account for the leap day for a more accurate way of telling time. which, i mean, what even is time? never the less, Gregory did a good job noticing time that the Romans left out, which if we look into Roman history, i feel like happened a lot (i mean 0) But enough with the introduction, i'm here to rant about Gregory's flaws.

take a look at the Gregorian calander, look carefully. (i'm going to say "gregorian calander" so many times in this blog i'm going to hate hearing it after) every month seems to follow a pattern Right? there seems to be 1 consecutive "31 not-31" day rule for every month Right? WRONG! there is a 31 not-31 day rule, but it gets broken. and if we take a look at the Gregorian calandr again, we can spot that the WORST month is August.

AND that is why AUGUST is my LEAST favourite month. not because i "can't stand the heat with my cold, reptillian, British blood" because it gives me OCD and now you have it too
